January 2004 Meeting Announcement, Delaware Valley Mass Spectrometry Discussion Group
- Topic: "Turbulent Flow Chromatography-A flexible Separation Platform."
- Speaker:Hubert Quinn , Cohesive
- Date: Monday, January 12, 2004. 6:30 PM
- Time: Social Hour: 6:30 PM. (Pizza)
Talk: 7:30 PM.
- Place: Widener University, Webb Room.
- Abstract:
The presentation will focus on the principles of TurboFlow ,which drive
the ability to process complex sample matrices both analytically as well as
preparatively. Examples will be discussed in which the technology is
applied to fractionation, separation and recovery of fractions of interest
pertaining to biological matrices. Of particular interest is the ability to
identify, purify and recover Biomarkers from Urine and plasma, as they
exist at very low concentrations in biological fluids. Examples will also
be discussed applying the technology to non-biological samples, in
particular the purification of Combinatorial Libraries from DMSO.
The significance of Turbulent Flow Chromatography as a separations tool
will be presented from the standpoint of greatly improving productivity
in some challenging separation/purification environments.
- Bio: Hubert Quinn has served as Chairman and Chief Technology Officer
since 2001. Mr. Quinn joined Cohesive in 1993 as Vice President of
Manufacturing and became the Company s President and Chief Executive
Officer shortly thereafter. Mr. Quinn brings more than 20 years of
chromatography experience to Cohesive. Prior to joining Cohesive,
Mr. Quinn served as Director of Production and Process Development
and Vice President of Production at PerSeptive Biosystems, Inc. Part of
his responsibilities included the establishment of protocol to determine
commercial feasibility and the commercialization of products. This role
also included developing product cost structures and establishing the
manufacturing operations. Mr. Quinn s separations industry experience
was initially acquired at the Waters Chromatography Division of Millipore
Corporation (now Waters Corporation), where he served as Manufacturing
Plant Manager for chemical products. Mr. Quinn holds a B.S. in physics
and chemistry from University College in Dublin, Ireland.
