Bridgeweek HTML and WWW Workshop
This workshop will introduce ways that the World Wide Web is used for teaching. This will include an introduction to faculty resources available on the Web, student resources on the Web and how to find and use these resources for teaching. After showing why the Web is useful, the workshop will conclude with an introduction to creating web documents.
In this advanced worship you will create a Web document. The workshop will cover the basics of HyperText Markup Language (HTML), how to use an HTML editor and HTML translators. After this workshop you will be ready to create a web page for your classes. Enrollment is limited to 12.
Other Help with the WWW
- Using Helper Applications. Helper applications expand the use of the world wide web to many other types of files. Allowing access to spreadsheets, animations, and other file types. This document shows how to install helper applications in Netscape. The procedure for other browsers will be very similar.
- How to use VOH. This is a brief introduction to how to use the "Virtual Office Hours" system set up at Widener University. This allows students to ask questions using the Web. Faculty respond to the questions and can post anouncements.
- How to write HTML code for VOH. This is a more detailed discussion of HTML code that may be useful with VOH. By using this code it is possible to add links and graphics to questions and answers with the VOH.
- Using the Web for Teaching Chemistry. Outline of a talk on using the Web that was presented to High School Chemistry Teachers.
